Checklist: Making Your Attraction Accessible
September 1, 2020By Susan Johnston Taylor
- Consider the whole experience from buying a ticket, standing in line for rides, purchasing souvenirs, and more. How will people communicate at each step? What barriers might drive guests away?
- Partner with local organizations. For instance, Texas Renaissance Festival works with ASLfairesTX, and Morgan’s Wonderland partners with Aid the Silent and Deaf Link.
- Consider creating an advisory committee, like at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Advisors can not only advise on inclusivity issues, but also serve as an attraction’s champion in local communities.
